Welcome to my corner of the internet. I’m Jonathan Orlando, a network engineering leader by trade, technologist by instinct, and lifelong student of how systems—technical and human—actually work. Over the years I’ve had the opportunity to design, build, and lead large-scale networks across enterprise, cloud, data center, and broadcast environments, often at the intersection of media and technology. This blog is a place for me to think out loud, document what I’m learning, and share perspectives shaped by both success and hard-earned lessons.

A big focus here will be network engineering: architecture, automation, observability, and the realities of running production networks that people rely on every day. I’ll also spend time on media and technology more broadly—how streaming, broadcast, cloud, and software continue to collide, and what that means for engineers and leaders navigating constant change. Expect practical insights, opinionated takes, and the occasional deep dive into tools, patterns, and approaches that have worked (or very much haven’t).

Outside of work, I’m a New Yorker at heart, a fan of NY sports, travel, food, and the quieter moments that help keep everything in balance. This blog will reflect that too—because life doesn’t fit neatly into one category, and neither do the stories worth telling. If you’re interested in networks, tech, leadership, sports, or just following along on the journey, you’re in the right place.
